Our Musical Legacy
Throughout the University's history, the Saint Peter’s community has provided an environment focused not only on a quality education, but also on cultivating a thriving experience in the arts. Though music is yet to be offered as a formal academic program, students at Saint Peter's have been able to showcase their musical talents in various singing groups, including the Glee Club, the Aidan C. McMullen Chorale and SCHOLA.
To celebrate the musical heritage at Saint Peter’s, the Chorale and SCHOLA are embarking on a joint project culminating in the release of an album commemorating the University’s rich musical legacy, as well as its continuing commitment for musical excellence, particularly in liturgy.
The first CD of the two-disc album is a collection of remastered recordings of the Saint Peter’s College Glee Club. For the first time in decades, the public will be able to hear voices from way back in the 1950s, when the Peacocks still sang as an all-male ensemble, through the years when it became the coeducational institution it is today. It will be a fitting testament to the University’s ongoing musical tradition.
The second CD will feature newly commissioned choral works specifically crafted for the Chorale and SCHOLA. The collection will feature compositions such as the "Magnificat" by Ryan Cayabyab and "Nightsongs" by Alejandro Consolacion II.
We invite you to be part of this important project to preserve and continue Saint Peter’s legacy of artistic excellence. With your gift, we will not only be able to immortalize our legacy, but we will also be able to reach beyond our campus through our voices.
Our $6,000 goal will cover the cost of the first CD. Additional monies received will support the second CD of the album.
